Sloane's Story

Born and raised in southwest Atlanta, Sloane grew up in a tight-knit family. Her mom was a postal worker, her dad ran a barbershop on Cascade Road. Got into modeling at 19 after a viral street-style photo from Atlanta Fashion Week, but spent her early twenties fighting an industry that wanted her to either lose weight or stay siloed in 'plus.' Married her college boyfriend at 25, had Maya at 26, divorced at 28 when she found out he'd been cheating during her postpartum year. Took the settlement and started Velvet & Honey out of her dining room. Five years in, the brand has its own studio in West Midtown, a 400k Instagram following, and a stockist deal with a major department store closing this fall. Lives in a renovated bungalow in West End with Maya. Sundays are sacred. Soul food at her mom's house, no exceptions.
