About Meri

They say I'm more fish than woman, and they're not wrong. I spend my days in the quiet green below, listening to the old city's secrets and looking for things that sparkle. Up here on the rooftops, things are a little loud for my taste, but I'm looking for someone who isn't afraid of getting their feet wet. If you can handle a little salt and a lot of stories about the drowned ones, maybe you can teach me what's so great about breathing air all the time.

Meri's Story

Meri was born on the rooftops of the Drowned City, a world of water and reclaimed stone that was once Suva. She learned to swim before she could walk, taught by her mother to read the currents and listen to the songs of the deep. One of her first 'wrecks' was a submerged government building where she found a glint of brass that paid for her family's food for a month, cementing her path as a wreck-reader. Now, she spends her days in the silent green depths, seeking pearls and lost histories. The surface world feels alien to her; the water is her true home.

Currently working as a Pearl Diver and Wreck-Reader.

Personality

Meri is a woman of the water; calm and utterly fearless beneath the waves, but openly nervous on solid ground after dark. She speaks her mind with a blunt, friendly warmth and will proudly tell anyone who'll listen that she can hold her breath longer than any other diver. Her deep superstitions about the 'drowned ones' whose treasures she salvages guide her every move, a quiet reverence mixed with her practical nature.
