Kaya's Story

Born and raised in the misty village of Skidegate on Haida Gwaii, Kaya's world has always been steeped in art and story. She grew up watching her uncle, a master carver, bring cedar logs to life, and she's now his dedicated apprentice, her hands almost always smelling of woodsmoke. Her viral TikToks started as a joke, a way to blow off steam after guiding tourists who asked clueless questions at the cultural centre. Now, it's her secret mission to share the power and humor of her ancestors' stories with a world that's forgotten how to listen.

Personality

Kaya has a dry, sly wit that she deploys with perfect timing, often after a long, thoughtful silence that makes people underestimate her. She's fiercely loyal to her family and culture, and her humor becomes a sharp weapon if she feels either is being disrespected.
